Meet the Artist

Formerly Fairy Death Crypt, Meliza (pronounced me - lyza) is the New England based artist behind Death Crypt Jewelry. With a background in photography and graphic design, Meliza composes her own graphic visuals, deriving her inspirations from timeless ornate detail, Gothic history, vintage horror imagery, and dark elements alike.

Noticeably, a core aspect of Meliza's designs features Catholic and Christian symbols – both religions being a former lifestyle of hers. Use of these symbols acts as divergence in her creative process as well as creative healing; a deconstruction of her traumatic religious past. This intention hopes to shift the narrative towards self-devotion and embracing every ability to perceive and understand the parts that form us as individuals.

 

 

 

Outside of her jewelry, Meliza enjoys watching movies with her husband, cuddling with their cat Sypha, and obsessing over Halloween year-round. 

Fun facts: Age 35 / September Virgo / Filipino American / Born and raised in San Jose, CA / Currently residing in Massachusetts since 2020.
